We can hardly live a perfect life, but we can live a surpassing one with the heavenly faith received through God’s grace. Through faith we will be able to turn our eyes from difficult circumstances and focus on who He is and what He has done. Once we turn our eyes back to God, our praise to Him will flow out of us naturally. However, it is usually not our habit to do so. We ought to exercise our will consciously and intentionally to praise Him. May the Spirit help us to proclaim His name and wonderful deeds, and “ascribe to Him the glory due His name”.

Month of Praising - Day 4

Psalm 112
112 Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, Who delights greatly in His commandments. 2 His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed. 3 Wealth and riches will be in his house, And his righteousness endures forever. 4 Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. 5 A good man deals graciously and lends; He will guide his affairs with discretion. 6 Surely he will never be shaken; The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance. 7 He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. 8 His heart is established; He will not be afraid, Until he sees his desire upon his enemies. 9 He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever; His horn will be exalted with honor. 10 The wicked will see it and be grieved; He will gnash his teeth and melt away; The desire of the wicked shall perish.

The poet of this passage encourages us to praise the Lord, for He is willing to bless. Think about it: what kind of people would be blessed by the Lord? The poet tells us it would be those who fear the Lord and delight greatly His commandments. Thanks be to the Lord! If we fear the Lord, He will help us to obey His word. In this way, not only we are blessed, but also our generations will be, and we'll never suffer need.

Meanwhile, if we are willing to live righteously, be kind, and become the blessing pipeline of the Lord, we will be in His remembrance. Thanks be to the Lord for strengthening our faith in adversity and making us fearless. He will also help us to lean on Him. What a great blessing! Praise be to the Lord! "For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations." (Psalm 100:5)

Finally, the Lord admonish us through the poet that: "The desire of the wicked shall perish". What a big difference between the ending of the wicked and that of the God-fearing! So shouldn't we be cautious when we make our decisions? "By humility and the fear of the Lord Are riches and honor and life." (Proverbs 22:4) Hallelujah!

112
